WA Fire Careers is a collaborative organization, comprised of select fire agencies throughout King County, created to simplify the firefighter exam and hiring process.

The online exam will determine the top group of candidates to move forward to the next step in the recruitment process. There will be a minimum passing score of 70% for the online exam. All hiring decisions will be conditional upon successfully completing the pre-employment selection process. Once you are offered and accept employment with one of our agencies, you will attend fire academy training.

All of our agencies utilize the South King County Fire Training Consortium (SKCFTC) to provide fire academy training for new recruits. SKCFTC holds two (2) fire academies per year.

September, 2021 & February, 2022

Applicants who participate in the April 30 – May 1 exam and successfully complete the pre-employment process may be considered for anticipated vacancies in the academies listed above.

Our agencies account for approximately 40 recruits at each academy.
